Tell me if I'm wrong...
Is
it because they are complimentary colors ?
Its pretty like sunset but my eyes are blinking on it.
is WHAT because hey are complimentary colors?
...the fact that it's a bad idea?
...or my presumption that I kinda got away with it this time?
I think the reference to proper coloration of prismatic fonts was to say that the 2 "halves" should be close in hue & value, because it is usually a 2D ploy, to simulate how a single colored 3D letter might look if carved to a prismatic shape & the lighting would illuminate one half, while the other half would be somewhat shaded.
I figured that out after the above logo design, and never use much contrast between the two halves of a prismatic font anymore. Clearly it presents a challenge of what color (or value) of background will work, and that's why i needed to add a white outline on the logo shown.
As far as why I got away with it... I don't know, maybe i didn't really, but between the yellow being somewhat darkened with orange, and the use of the outline... it just managed to be readable in the end... (I think)
