FireFox Woes

Lately it seems that at least 5-10 times a day FireFox shuts down abruptly
and has to restart. Why is this. It is becoming a real pain in my rear, but I
don't know how to fix it. I am pretty sure that I have the most up-to-date
version of the browser, but it still just closes on me. Is there any reason for
this?

Might be a certain site your visiting that has something not quite right with it causing firefox to freak out. Try updating your flash player, I've been reading that Flash is the number 1 reason why browsers crash.

What add-ons, if any, do you have installed. I had one that was for filling forms out automatically that was causing problems. At this point I don't remember the name of it but when I disabled it, my problems disappeared.

Good call, didn't think of that. I did install a stock ticker a while ago, about
when the problems started. I will remove that and see if the problem goes
away.

I had FF 2 and it was a memory hog on my machine and would crash here and there, but FF 3 is much better (although still eats up a lot with 20 tabs open ;)

tell us what version your on and it might help. I would also google "Firefox + version + crashes" and see what comes up. Finally delete all add-ons and uninstall. Do a fresh install of the latest 3.xxxxx version on their site and install the add-ons one per day to see if it crops back up.
