Flexi doesn't contour cut inside of letters

Newbie question, just getting my feet wet. I have created a graphical text image to put on walls as a wallpaper. It has lots of text in it on a transparent background, so I need Flexi to cut out the letters. I have created the artwork in Illustrator and turned the fonts into outlines. Saved out as an eps and brought into Flexi Premium Print and Cut V12. When I tell it to contour cut the selected text, it doesn't cut out the holes in the "o" or "e" or any letter that has a hole in it (R, D, P, etc). Even when I check the "holes" box, it still doesn't contour the inside of the letters. What am I doing wrong?

When you specified Effects->Contour did you check the box labeled 'With Holes'? Whoops, I read that you did. OK then, are both pieces of a character with a hole, like 'O', one object or are you only selecting the outer line?

The illustrator vector is already a "compound" item. I've released compounds then pathfinder>divide to punch the center out of the letter, and I still get the same result when I get the letters into Flexi.

Combine the 2 pieces of each letter that has them (i.e. a, b, d, o, p.....etc) and then apply your contour cut, with holes. If those letters are not combined objects, the contour cut will only contour the outermost shape.

Press control f. Check if to see if the inside of the letter is a line an not a stroke. Select the inside and delete it to see if there is another stroke or line on top of it that is exactly the same.

The letters I'm working on are green and actually have a 8 pt blue stroke on them. So, I need to get the contour cut on the outside edge of that stroke (so it still shows a colored stroke), and it needs to contour cut the holes as well, giving me the stroke too. It seems like I might have to do a lengthy work-around and make a second layer of the letters which are larger to use as the outer contour cut, and a layer of smaller letters to get the contour cut for the holes. All this seems like alot of work, and I'll be doing dozens of designs with contoured letters, there's gotta be an easier way when dealing with letters with strokes on them..... This is frustrating..... Thanks everyone for your help..

The stroke is most likely causing your issue. Try making a solid black version that you will use only to create the contour. Once your contour cut is good with the holes 'separate contour cut' delete the black and then import your file with the proper colors.

Good Luck

Simple solution; don't use strokes, use outlines. Strokes are the dubious legacy of Adobe and they cause far more trouble than they're worth.
