FlexiPro 7.6v2- picking fonts questions

I am becoming accustomed to F7.6 after 11 yrs with F5.7- but I cannot
believe how clumsy it is to pick a font- what am I doing wrong? Say I want
a font at the end of the 'T's- I type 't' and if it is not in the list that shows
I must arrow down to get to it? If I want the fonts that have been used
I type '0' and get to 0cazfat from DNA and then arrow up?

I think that what I want to do is get to the 'modify' that is at the top and
get the window with a slider to the right that will wizz me to where I want
to go- is there a simple way to do that? Thanks Gene

All I know is that if I want to go to my most recently used fonts I click the font list and hit the "Home" button on my keyboard.

I don't think there is with 7.6. However, w/ versions 8 you can type in more then just the first letter to get to the font you want, etc.

Good tip on the home key- thanks. Ya know when you can't remember the
name of the font but you are pretty sure it is near the end (or begining) of
the list and you just want to go thru a couple hundred fonts quick? It is
pretty easy in F5.7. Also I see that 'modify' is not what I looking for either-
you can use the slider to zip thru the fonts but you cannot select them from
that window. Thanks Gene

If I am understanding your initial question then it appears you aren't using DC to pick fonts. It puts your recently used at the top and has a right hand scroll bar.

In Flexi 8 we fixed the font selection thing so that you can type multiple letters, and it will also skip over the recent used font list at the top.

Matthew,
Are you allowed to answer that question without all the pertinent information from the user - just kidding.

What would be good would be an online knowledgebase that actually answers questions relating to bugs or workarounds in the software. Sort of fess up and tell us how to do it stuff like Microsoft has.

When I use the Flexi knowledgebase it looks like the flexi help files with older versions thrown in.

And.... I can 't stand that I can't clear my preferences without blowing out my profiles and having to redo them.

The knowledgebase on the web site is completely out of date and we are looking at how to update it.

Clearning preferences should not have any effect on your profiles. As long as you re-add the same setup in PM your profile will still be visible, but here is a tip - before you clear prefs, back up the SETTINGS.PRF file (in C:\Program Files\SAi\SAi Production Suite\Jobs and Settings for 8.5 or in C:\Program Files\Flexi for earlier versions). Once you clear prefs, put the file back. This way you clear out only the Flexi prefs and not the PM prefs.

(I have requested to add an option to the preference manager to allow you to select to clear Flexi and PM prefs independently)

Sorry for the delay- I was on a Carib cruise and just got back (to a snow
storm- and -20 tomorrow)

BINGO! Thank you cpknut! Would you believe I have used F6+7 for years
and always parked DC to the extreme right of my screen- just inside of the
design screen slider- and when I strike the font 'down arrow' to open the
fonts, the slider to the right of the fonts was not visible? I somehow knew
that that could not be right- but finally was irritated enough to ask. Thanks
for taking the time to walk me thru it. Gene

Matthew, I use my copy of Fpro 7.6 on 2 different computers at various
times- both flat monitors- one is a wide format and I dock DC to the right
of the flexi window- but always hard to the right of the monitor (or the flexi window with a 'normal' format monitor) and have never seen the slider in the
font field. Am I the only ol'fa' that has missed this? Maybe some sort of award
is in order? Gene
