Checking Bodoni, Bauer Bodoni, Bodoni Antiqua and Bodoni Old Face, I find no "G" or "W" that is at all close.

I agree the G is off, possibly some form of Baskerville? idk i can't find an exact match on it...
On a somewhat unrelated note: Fred, when you do Font ID's do you feel as much like a TV CSI person as I do?

To some extent. Back in the 1990's we were the first publisher of a font identification program, FontFinder™, and later we also were the U.S. distributor of the FontExpert program. Our biggest group of customers to our surprise were professional forensic document examiners, along with various police departments and federal agencies.
