I am doing a menu board for a BBQ restaurant - just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a font besides arial or helvetica that is very easy to read for the item descriptions - I have it in Arial right now and it just seems blah

:thankyou:

You're on the right track. You want a nice simple clean font that can be easily read from a distance like arial or helvetica, but not arial or helvetica.

Tahoma is one that I have been using lately for work like that and I think all the new Ohio highway signs are being done in that font. I've always been partial to futura also

I can call out a million typefaces but...

How big is the sign?
How big is the type going to be?
How far away is it from the viewer?
Are there Headers where you can mix up the type a little bit?
What does the Menu look like?
Is it backlit or external?

Some amount of funky type is possible and maybe aid in breaking up the menu. But without knowing what your doing, some type does not play well with straight type.
