having to prototype this and they will not issue digital vector files until someone wins the bid, so i have to make it for a proto and then will be furnished if I win the bid, which it will not help me then... that sucks

Probably custom or an altered font.
Trace it or recreate it if it's for a quote.

Do you have to build a prototype sign to get the bid?
Or do they just expect all the bidders to work for free?

they pretty much expect us to work for free... thats not uncommor at all in the corporate retail world, and it sucks... but when u win a bid it's more than worth while

the reason I didn't want to take the time is because a few years ago I used this font for some logos when i was using SignLab, it was a standard font on that computer and I don't remember whether someone had added it or if it came with SignLab.... either way, i can't remember it's name but I have seen it so it bothers me
