fonts and dashed lines into one stoke line? x4

hi everyone,
i´m curious, is there any way how to convert font or dashed lines into vectors, then generate into one stroke line/s? i dont mean to convert into bitmaps, than do centerline trace.
i wish to draw a map with summa cutting plotter
(with attached technical pen)

Some CNC Routing software programs do that.

what you want are "engraving fonts"

and regarding dashed lines... at least in illustrator, any line can be made a dash line of whatever length segments, at whatever distance apart... and they are already just single (centerline) vectors.

well, all your excellent tips point in the right direction.
i´ll try working with illustrator, but in general, i wish to make a single stroke lines from everything, (fonts,graphics) what needs to to be drawn with plotter, preferable worked out in coreldraw x4.
