Frequent Crashes

Flexi Cloud PRO has been crashing very frequently for me.

I used eye drop tool to change the color of 3 labels, and it crashed.

I used dimension tool and clicked on a corner of a text, and it crashed.

Sometimes, when I press Esc, it crashes, and other times, I press Ctrl+P, and it crashes.

I just spent 2 hours on a drawing and now I have to start from scratch.

Why does Flexi no longer offer to save files when it crashes? It has crashed hundreds of times, and yet only once did it tried to help me recover unsaved files.

Not a Flexi user but just two cents. Get in the habit of saving files as you work every ten minutes or so in any program on any computer and always before you print.

Thank you very much, i thought i was the only one with crashes

There is no warning. if you have multiple windows open you lose it all. it dose'nt matter if you save it every 5 minutes or every 5 seconds you still have to remember which project you were on before it crashed and hope you remember to fix any thing else you were working on. Ive sent multiple reports like the the ones you've attached but no response yet. It really is a pain i hope they resolve it on the next set of patches due out real soon.

I used to be able to take note of the open files when Flexi crashed, until Flexi Cloud came along.
While there are some new features, none of the old bugs was eliminated. Rather, new bugs even grew with every new version.
Besides the bugs, I strongly suggest SAi to develop a new interface for Flexi. It feels like a time machine flying me back to the 1990s, every time I work on it.

I'm surprised to hear that these app crash issues are still occurring so frequently with Flexi. We upgraded to Flexi 10 when it was first released, and on a couple of our design workstations we would experience very similar app crashes, without warning, and no way of saving. I never could figure it out. It was hard for me to really attribute it to anything either, as two of the computers that were having the app crash issues were identical machines, even identical software, but a third machine that was doing it was a different system with very slightly different software versions of additional software installed (Java, Malwarebytes, etc. version differences is all.)

However, once we updated to Flexi 10.5, the app crashes ended. Currently all of our workstations are running Flexi Cloud, and I have not heard from any of the designers about any program crashes for a while.

I think a lot of this really stems from a lot of stuff outside of Flexi to be honest. Yes, the problem may inherently exist with Flexi, as it is the program crashing, but it could be caused due to memory allocations or corruptions existing with other running applications, or perhaps some compatibility with other background programs or services in Windows. Have you been in contact yet with SAi support on the issue? I haven't had need to contact them much in the past, but the few times I have they have been able to figure out what I could do to fix it.

My experience has been similar to Choucove. I don't see app crashes like that often. I have heard isolated reports of problems, but in general, nothing like that of the posts above. In my experience, situations this severe can be traced to something other than Flexi or an incompatibility with Flexi. System resources are often a big part of the problem, but not always.

We have a good number of customers out there running Flexi Cloud and I can't say that I have heard of any SignBurst™ customers having this issue.

We are a Flexi dealer and sell the software to folks not running our computers as well. I have been told of a situation with an off-the-shelf computer that sounds similar to this. Being that it isn't on one of our systems, I don't have a lot of info on that situation. I did ask about the system they were running and my gut tells me that they are expecting too much out of that particular off-the-shelf computer.

I saw a dramatic increase of stability with 10.5. Yet again, the crashes came back with Cloud.

In fact, I am used to the crashes, but the inability to recover unsaved files really haunts me.

I have seen a lot of issues with antivirus softwares causing issues with Flexi. The one that seems to work the best with it is Microsoft Security Essentials. I have seen lots of problems with CA's protection suite and Advast AntiVirus. I also have a fairly large install base of Flexi Cloud build 1921 and I haven't been hearing anything about it crashing. I would make sure that the hardware key driver is up to date and make sure the computer isn't set to go into sleep mode. Those are the two main issues that I have seen.

None of these scenarios applies to me.
The only anti-virus software that's installed was Microsoft Security Essential, which came as a part of the Windows Update.
I have 2 workstations with one running on an upgraded license that requires the hardware key, and the other with the soft key. Both have issues, although the hardware configurations are very different.
Lastly, the computers are set to be on 24/7.

How often do you close flexi and re-open?
It seems like mine the longer you have flexi running,
(I will have had it run sometimes a week at a time)
the more apt you are to have it crash.
It also seems to happen more when working with large bitmap files than with vectors.
I try to close and re-open flexi at least once a day.

I relaunch Flexi pretty often. At least once a day, or sometimes several times a day. Of course, part of them was due to crashes.
I don't work with bitmap on Flexi too much.
