jhill & Colorado are right - DRY, unless you are doing a job like jhill's, although I have done similar, DRY. Key is to use low tac, CLEAR premask.

Everybody has their preference. In the tint business, we go wet. I see where instaling a vinyl dry can work, but not with film. I only do large interior commercial buildings, and have been in the game for 16yrs. I would love to see anybody do it dry and still walk away with a profit. Vinyl maybe, poly film....not a chance unless you feel like poking hole all over the film to get the air bubbles out. Of course I am talking about large jobs, not singles.

Lay it down wet and heat up the transfer tape to help dry. It may take a while to dry but it'll come out perfect .

Rapidtac II for glass - makes quite a difference

Stuff is amazing on glass -- just make sure its where you want it before pressing on any of it or its stuck. I tried the soap, water and alcohol mix and preferr Rapid 2 instead.

Never heard of adding alcohol. I had to lay some 3M dusted crystal today that I had a graphic printed on. 1 mural 10ft long by 7 tall on 6 panes of butt glass. Let me just say that I hate vinyl. It was like playing with a big fruit roll up.

I used to do acres of this stuff.
Always did them wet.
Stuck them down and come back the next day to remove app tape if possible.
I can't see how you could do large areas dry without major bubbling.

The alcohol helps evaporate the water soap quicker --

If you use window film save the clear and use it to cover project and card areas that need it .
