Frustrated with 4Over

Process of ordering business cards for a customer in a hurry:
Steve: In need then on Monday.
Me: Sure, they have next business day turnaround for X amount extra. (Late Wednesday, next business cutoff is 10am)
Steve: Great, go ahead and order it!
Me: Sounds good, placing an order early morning (Thursday) for a Friday shipping.
..................
Saturday: I get emails that business cards are ready for an UPS pickup. ????? WTF, they were supposed to ship on Friday for Monday delivery.

Called today to check what happened.
Me: What happened with my two orders of Business cards that I had paid for a Next day production? Why they did not ship?
4Over: They were produced on Friday sir!
Me: I do not care when they were produced, I needed them shipped on Friday.
4Over: Yes sir, sorry about that. They were done after the UPS cut off time. They will ship today.
Me: Why did I pay extra for a "Next day production" if they will ship today?
4Over: But sir, they were produced on Friday, we just did not have time to ship them before the UPS came. We did produce them, we do not guarantee that they will ship Next Business day, only that they will be done with production. It says in the resources! Only production, but it might not ship that day.
Me: HUH??? Are you kidding me? Am I supposed to go looking in 3-4 different places to find out that the Next Day is not actually a Next Day? It says right there, next day turnaround (+$15)
..................
Lovely, there goes most of the profit.
Can not charge the guy extra fees for something that did not happened.

I hate businesses that are sneaky like that. Charge for something, and then if they do not make it, they put a wording somewhere hidden that explains that alny need to do a certain thing but not completely be done with the job.

4over, that is one big MINUS in my book

That's shady business... puts a bad name to all of the rest of us who would actually produce it in time to ship that next day!

turn around does not mean shipping.

In the shop its always been turnaround the work to the door. Shipping is always added because shipping is always unpredictable.

I understand that they can not control how long it takes after they ship the package.
The issue IS, they did not ship it the next day.

sorry, i dont think this is 4overs fault...since when is there a money back guarantee for printing if it dont get there on time? this aint fed ex... you should know what the true turn times are for 4over. and for any other product you sell... you should know about your products you sell, and know what is possible and what isnt possible.

Really.
What is there that is not understandable "Next Day Turnaround + $15"?
Why do I need to go look in some other place where it says it is only "Production time". Still, it does not say that that "Production time" does not include shipping process in it? I do not hide behind some weird explanation of the completely different part of the web site. If I say it is a next day production, it will be printed, packaged and shipped the NEXT DAY. Bigger companies should not hide behind badly written explanations, just fess up for it and say "We are sorry, we could not do what we promised and here is the refund for the extra fees". But NO, they even politely tell that I'm stupid for not reading the explanation on what is a "NEXT DAY TURNAROUND"

Next Day Turnaround +$15 clearly *implies* that they will ship the next day. They should clearly say that it means production time only and the order may not ship the next day. Seems like a sneaky way to get out of any blame when they don't ship when expected and get an extra $15 to boot.

I dumped 4Over YEARS ago for stuff like this. They drove me nuts by never shipping when they said they would. I'm with Kwik, I don't really even do them anymore because it's not worth my time.

So I'm sitting here reading this on my lunch break thinking surely that can't actually be their policy on next day turnaroud shipping. I called just to check and sure enough next day production doesn't mean they will necessarily ship it the next day. That is the first time I've ever heard of such a thing and I've been outsourcing to many different suppliers for years. I cannot fathom someone thinking this is not a misleading business practice.

zooprinting.com - good quality, fast turnaround and MUCH MUCH better customer service.

I still command $60-80 per set of 1000 cards - people looking for the cheapest cards they can buy are not my customers. If you are fighting for those, vistaprint will kill you every time. Corporate clients looking for a one stop shop to get their cards, letterhead and signage done just want a guy they can call and know it will be done right. Go after those and leave the PITA customers to the bottom feeders. It has taken me 5 years of heartache to figure that out.

All in all they are all goodmtill there is n issue. Then they all suck. I do ALOT of cards! But if I hear " i need them in a hurry, they wait or they can go somewhere else. Once again the dreaded RUSH! I want no part of it.

we've also had better luck with zoo printing. and we regularly get over $100 for business cards. its not that hard, when they ask how much business cards are, I just say "$105 plus tax, and that includes a basic custom layout on standard 14pt cardstock."

take it or leave it, i don't really care.

We are the same, I'll do them for existing clients, but we don't advertise that we do them. The local print shop closed down about 5 years ago in our town, we are the only place the I know who sells cards in town. I tell people it's $95 per 1000, plus design, 95% of the time I don't get the job and that's fine with me

We have same price point. But even at that price, there is not enough profits to bother with it.
Btw, at least i don't listen to people telling me how cheap it is to order from vistaprint lol

i dont get it...

you charge about 100 dollars for about a 10 dollar product that might take all of 15 - 20 min tops to put together something nice...
and they will eventually need to reorder...

and thats not enough profit?

seriously, am i missing something?
