Gantry will not raise help.

Has anyone had the z axis motors on their carriage gantry go out? I am thinking one or both the motors has blown or a limiter switch/ fuse is out. The printer turns on and starts running its normal start up sequence, but when it is suppose to raise and align carriage gantry it wines, and stops without out raising. Then it throws obstruction of carriage error code. The carriage guard is in place and nothing is obstructing it .Seems very similar to when 3d printer z axis limiter switch has malfunction. Has anyone had any similar experience?

With all this cold, is your shop warm ?? Some of these machines are quite temperamental when it comes to getting cold.

Does your machine have a lead screw? it could be broken. This happened on our CNC machine, needed a new Lead screw / worm screw because it was worn out.

I run an EFI UV printer in my shop. From time to time, we have weird issues pop up. One of the things that works for us is to deliberately trip the safety and then let it re-set to home.

Obviously, you could also cycle the power, but I'm guessing you've done this.

Good luck.

Hey everyone! Thank you for all the responses! We figured out it was the Z axis Sensor that had a failure, The line that runs into the white ink sub Tank was leaking ink on the sensor, causing it to fail. we removed the senor wiped it off and replaced the leaking line into the sub tank and Ta Da The Printer is up and running just fine. I have oodles of pictures and directions if anyone has a similar issue
