Generic alternative... UV InkJet filters. Anyone tried?

If you're buying from CET, don't forget they are still made in China/Taiwan. They may have U.S. support and sales, but the bulk of the machine is contracted out. I promise, they are just reselling those filters. Nothing that small and plastic actually costs that much. Doesn't matter where it's manufactured.

i don't know. when speaking with one of the guys that designs CET printers on a tech call, i was replacing a filter and mentioned that i needed to match the UM specs for a filter. my filter said 60um and the ones on the printer were like 110um or something. the tech said, don't worry about it. the thing is all of the ink for printing is at the secondary tank. as long as ink makes it to these subtanks, there can't possibly be restriction.
as for last chance filters, the bigger the better, the actual pressure at the head is adjusted via vacuum anyway.

filters

All,

The print head manufacture (Ricoh/Fuji/Toshiba) all insist on the use of Pall filters only, or the head would have no warranty. The um is very important, as it indicates the particle size filtered, again dictated by manufacture.

I only took a small mark up on the filters as they are so expensive, even to me. Its your printer Tom so you can do what you are comfortable with.

We've been using Chinese primary and secondary filters for over a year no issues.

Our vacuum system however has completely fallen apart and we are retrofitting it now. The design is terrible. The PVC pipes and the flex hoses get hot, twist, then fall off completely.

My apologies for reviving an old(ish) thread. I'm just thinking whether there would be a notable difference in 5 or 6 um. When you compare these two filters: http://www.sign-in-china.com/products/14869/flora_uv_printer_filter.html vs http://www.sign-in-china.com/produc...llwin_phaeton_crystaljet_uv_ink_printers.html the price difference is $117.68! Has anyone tried the cheaper filter from this site? I wonder if this is true for the smaller secondary filter like this: http://www.sign-in-china.com/products/15077/spectra_polars_pq_512_printhead_filter.html

Cheers!
