Gerber Edge setup

We are getting an Edge 2 on tuesday and was wondering what everyone is using to keep the prints as dust free as possible? from what i understand, keeping the vinyl dust free is even more crucial on an edge than a inkjet machine.

we plan oh having the printer and cutter on a smaller (3'x7') table. on my roland, we have a take up reel to keep the print off the floor and free of dust, but I havn't seen anything like this for the edge. so any sugestions on how to set up the machine to be as dust free as possible?

It's not a big deal, just keep your printing area clean and make sure you clean the Edge properly with 99% alcohol.

The Edge has two built in dust removal devices on each side of the printhead that work very well. One is a plastic wiper and the other is a dust brush. I've never needed anything beyond that to get good clean prints.

You don't need to do any more than you do with the inkjet.

BTW... you made a great choice... you won't be disappointed

I always felt with the edge "If you build it, they will come"

like I have said on other threads.... Dust is not always the culprit although it gets blamed for it. Tiny indentations in the vinyl cause plenty of dropouts so be aware the using 3 ml vinyls will generally produce many more than 2 ml and for the best results get your best deal on 15" sprocketed 3M 220 vinyl from ND as it definately hands down will print the best!!!! TCT's 2ml is not to bad either and you can probably get a better price on it

We just bought a roll of white 3mil vinyl from TCT to learn the ropes on. I have never ordered anything from ND Graphics, I love TCT's $5 flat rate shipping though!

We use the 468, we actually order the rolls from one of our wholesale customers, he buys a ton from ND and gets a better price on the tape than we can, he sells it to us for the same price he pays.
