Gerber files saving as 400000KB!!

I have worked with Gerber for years. I have 6.5 now and it keeps saving some really simple files like they are massive. I was wondering why all the sudden they were taking forever to open and save and even just copy and paste parts. I looked at the size of them and they are all over 400,000KB. Why would they be saving like that?? I've never has this issue and what I am creating is nothing out of my usual. Nothing too crazy or complicated.

Side note: Gerber 6.5 also shuts me out with no warning and also lately pops up a message that says "Insufficient memory" or "Not enough system resources to perform requested function"

Anything on these topics would help. I'd like to know if anyone is having these issues as well.

hello,

I am running 6.5 also - never had that issue. If you want to PM me the file I will see how it saves on my end. Maybe there is a layer or something - looks like a standard outline file

seems like you are saving in a bitmap type format (and at a very high resolution)
remember file size grows exponentially, 600 dpi file 4x the size of 300 doi.
1200 dpi 16x, etc

the same when you increase. color space

I am only saving it as a gerber (plt) file like usual, that's why this is so strange.

There are no raster or clipped images in the file? I mean those are large objects but if all simple vector paths there's no reason the file should be that big.

Just for chits and giggles, if you select all, scale down to 10% and save as, does it reduce the file size?

Ok, so I saved it as an Ai and then opened it back up in Gerber and it is way smaller of a file now. I can't type into my text but that is ok, as long as I can work on it and it doesn't freeze up on me thats better..

Haha, OMG!! no, no images in it. I scaled it down 10% and saved it now its like 803,000...haha what is happening??!?

Well I found a fix that I posted below (save as an Ai and open back up in Gerber) But I still don't understand what is going on here lol. I don't know if I am teckie enough to understand : )

I believe there is a bug (not fixed in Omega 7.0 either) with Groups of Groups.
If you select all and Ungroup and save the file should be a lot smaller. Of course you lose your groups.
