Gerber Maxx and Odyssey plotters

Looking thru some old sign magazines and came across ads for Gerber Odyssey plotters and Gerber Maxx printers. Odyssey claimed you couldn't load vinyl incorrectly, it would automotically correct any skewing.

Maxx printer was supposed to be Gerber's venture into big thermal one piece printing.

Are they still being produced / supported? If not, what was the reason?

We still use our Odyssey, and the auto correct works great.
Biggest disadvantage is a lack of an eye/auto registration system for contour cutting digital prints. Also, I wish it had more than 3 pinch rollers.

large compnay in Montgomery had the gerber Maxx, damn thing wouldnt never print right. They had Gerber techs out all the time finally when the warranty was up Gerber said SEE YA!....the Maxx sat there for the next couple years and the employyes were printing stuff on the edge they had.

The gerber Maxx was a flop. Great size for a machine and very expensive

still have a maxx2..but under the cover she stays..consumables too expensive..against the dc3 and inkjets..good idea but issues with banding/alignment..worked great on 225 and banner material though!
spot colours cant be beat..maybe one day technology will make thermal "large" again!..p.s. i installed a gerber cat flatbed the day gerber decided to pull out of that market....great machine though!!
