Gerber set white as vinyl

Dumb question alert.

I have move over from verscamm and versaworks to now using a gerber with flexisign.

The question is all my old artwork done in illustrator has white logos on coloured backgrounds (motocross graphics), so what i want to do is when printing is not have to overprint with white.

Is there a setting in flexisign to select the white as the vinyl color or do i have to delete the background each time.

On the versacamm i only had to worry about cmyk.

Depending on the variables in the background and the nature of your file (raster or vector), you may

  • simply print as is and the white will be seen as clear
  • apply a clear fill to the area that is white
  • compound the vectors so the inside is a hole allowing the white to show through
  • do similar things as compounding such as clipping masks
