I have 4 inks sitting at 10% or less. They have been like this for a week now and still I get no low ink warnings.
I leaving for a week Friday and I am pretty sure with the printer in sleep mode it wouldn't run out of ink.... would it?

i have had situations that i have run out of ink for my roland and it was on order so i just put a cleaning cart. in and at least that will keep the heads from drying out

Do what I do, buy the new carts and stick them in. When you get back throw the old carts back in until they're done. There's no waste and you don't risk your print head drying out. You're going to need the damn ink anyway. Just buy it.

I wouldn't worry a week. I have had my printer down for almost 2 weeks waiting for a service tech and there was absolutly no machine maintanence. She came back like a champ. It seemed unaffected. The amount of ink used sitting a week in sleep is so minimal it wouldn't affect a percentage.

it's pretty clear, you are obviously not allowed to go on vacation in the sign business. what if someone needs 5 coro signs for tomorrow!?

I would do this but the last time I did it with an ink at 1, when I went to put it back in I got a message that it was at ink end.... I dont trust my machine.

That would seem to indicate you were right on the cusp of running out. Why take the chance ruining a print head over a few ml of ink? What do you stand to lose with either decision? $20 for losing out on the tail end of a cartridge or a $$$$ print head?

Sounds like you're stepping over a dollar to pick up a penny.

haha leave a sharpie by the door and tell them your embracing the DIY mentality!

On note - I think you should be fine, as long as they havent been on 1 for quite some time and you've been printing.
