Going to show, What to do?

We are going to the SGIA show in vegas in a couple weeks. We are also in the market for a printer. It's going to be a HP L330 or 360 depends on what kind of deal we can get. I would really like to buy the show model off of someone. I have been talking to companies already and getting prices on the printers. My question is while I'm talking to these companies should I let on that we are going to be at the show and that is where we really want to buy a one. Or should I keep my mouth closed and keep asking for quotes and then show up at the show with some different quotes in hand and try to get a better deal that way? I'm just wondering if I ask them before hand if they will sell their floor model, if they will give me a good deal for asking ahead of time or not.

Welcome to the forum! The best deals on the floor models will be the guys that want to sell it but still haven't by the last day of the show - then they will deal a little more. I would keep getting quotes then see what you can find at the show. That way you will be well informed to determine how good of a deal someone may be offering you on a floor model at the show.

So we are going only to the first day of the show. I thought it would be better to get in there first and make a deal. I thought it would be harder at the end of the show to find someone who still has one for sale. Maybe easier for them if they could sell it at the beginning and know its sold.

Do you think I should change my trip around.

We were in the market for a plotter several years ago. We talked to our sales rep, told him we'd be coming to the show to buy the floor model. He said "No problem". We got there 10 minutes after the show started, headed directly to the booth, he wasn't there, but the plotter was, with the show price on it. They said he had gone to get a cup of coffee or something from the snack bar and he'd be back in a couple minutes. Walked a couple booths down, blew about 10 minutes, came back, he was there and there was a "Sold" sticker on it. We said "Great, he already held it for us".

Nope. Sold it to someone else. We told him we specifically talked to him about it and it he knew we were coming for it. He "went and talked to his manager" and came back and gave us the same price on a new one, not a floor model.

I wouldn't put too much state in it being cheaper because it's being used at the show. Anyone wanting to sell a printer is going to make you a good deal if you're ready to buy a new one and sign the papers that day. I've seen some great deals, and they all just involved signing the papers that day, not loading the truck and hauling it away that day.

I think you'll be fine just showing up.

Thanks that's what I thought. With probably 100 other people trying to do the same thing. I thought first day get it before someone else can. Thanks a lot.

Didn't Colorado say he got his 360 for $17,000.00 because he put a deposit? My old brain fails me on the exact details. I remember it sounded like a smokin' deal though.

$17,000 seems to be an easy price to get on that machine at this point in time, best I can tell.

just wheelin and dealin my man. We go buy a lot so i guess that helps.

I am trying I have a quote right now for a LX360 with two sets of ink and two sets of printheads plus install. $18,145. I figured this was a pretty good deal for regular times. Now I know there is deinetly room to move at the show.

$13,995 at the show today, with all the HP discounts, if they apply to you.

Wow, $14,000 for a 360? That's a killer deal. Hopefully the SGIA show will have the same discounts. Who did you end up buying from? What discounts, I have been told there will probably be a $1000 off show sale.

Who is offering that price? I went to the USSC show page to try to figure out which HP dealers are there but couldn't figure it out.

My guess would be nobody. I think he is just trying to ruffle some feathers. I don't think they would sell a new L360 for under the price of the L330 new. I think $16,000 is going to be as close as it gets for a brand new one.
