Gonna be in a school art show. Need ideas.

At the end of this semester, all of the graduating art students have to participate in an art show and I'm having a hard time coming up with some unique ideas on how to display my stuff.

We'll have a 4'x4' card table that will be against a wall. About 6' or so up the wall, there is a pole we can hang a drape to come down the wall, over the table and down to the floor. We're suggested to have a laptap with a scrolling slide show of our work, as well as actual projects. These projects will include a package design, a tshirt design, a cd cover, a catalogue, a poster, some logo designs, business forms, a couple of art pieces, a couple of photographs, our resume and business cards. 20 pieces total. I have all of that stuff.

I'm looking for creative and unique ways to display everything. I haven't seen any of the previous ones so I'm kinda lost. Anything come to mind?

Yes, it's my show so I should be the one to come up with the display and I will. Just looking for some suggestions to get the creative juices flowing!

Thanks!

Screw convention. Conformity gets ignored.

Throw out the card table and build your own so you can make it a funky shape. It doesn't have to be pretty, cut it out of old signs or a cheap piece of particle board....it won't matter, you're going to run the drape over it (jet black) and cover it all up anyway. Make it in a couple of layers....a small top layer and a larger bottom to give you even more display space. Instead of a laptop on a table hang a regular LCD monitor at eye level connected to the laptop with a video cable. Hide the laptop between your table layers. Build a header for it from foam board or whatever you've got. give it a little dimension, even it it just means cutting it to a shape other than rectangular.

For $20 you can make yours stand out. I guarantee you most of the people there will half *** the thing and essentially just toss their stuff on a table.

Every one loves when something lights up. Run some LED's preferrably color changing or flashing around. would be better if the LED's where hidden so all one would see is the lighting and not the light itself. I bet the different colors would enhance the coloring of the artwork as well as drawing attention to the booth itself.

I had thought about somehow doing some lights. I was thinking Christmas lights, tho. LEDs much better!

when i was at penn state, the display of and selling of your semesters art work..WAS PART OF THE FINALE GRADE!!!! and it was also part of the students CREATIVITY, to design, build the DISPLAY. asking us for ideas, sorta short circuits YOUR CREATIVITY.........

The display and show is part of the grade for one of my last classes. The grade is given mostly on the items. In fact, I've already been told that I will receive an A, even if all I do is show up with my stuff on a plain table. If you re-read my original post, you'll see where I acknowledge that I'm looking for suggestions and in no way intend to copy anything anyone suggests. There's nothing wrong with getting a creative "boost" as long as the final idea is my own.

A great mentor of mine once told me being a genius is not always having the answers but knowing where to find them and what to do with it.

What is the date maybe a date/holiday sensitive theme ? Maybe a fake charity theme . Save the Charlie sheens ? with a fish swimming incoke and hookers ? Non Conventional is the key and off the wall meaningless subjects as not to pigeon hole yourself.

Love It! So true.

Using something with some movement is always good. If you can get the LED lights to blink or move or something else with some movement will attract attention too.
