Gooey platen on my HS15

Drip Dry

New Member
Recently I noticed that the platen on my plotter is looking like a buildup of something. It looks almost sticky or gooey. When I touch it, it's not sticky.
So, I want to clean it.
Years ago in another life, I used Fedron ( a cleaning fluid ). It would clean and rejuvenate the platens.
I'm afraid with the Gerber platen, I may destroy it, or it may swell.

Does anyone have any recommendation as what to use for this ?

I had this happen to me once. It wasn't salvageable. Others I've read were the same. Your best bet is a replacement drum from here.

Thanks Fred. I may try the Fedron thing first. If I totally ruin it, I'll get the replacement.
Is it a difficult thing to replace ?
