Gradient for screenprinting?

I have a client that wants his logo in the center of the shirt and in the background wants white behind the logo which will fade out about 4" from the center. Designing it is not a problem for print but for Screen printing, is there a special way to do the fade out/ gradient out.

I have seen the shirts where it is basically just the dots of color from lager to smaller but not sure how I would do this.

Any help would be appreciated.
