Graphtec contour cutting issue

rydods

Member for quite some time.
I have seen this similar issue on here several times but can't seem to find a good answer for it...
I have a Roland versacamm sp-300 and need to contour cut up to 1000 1 1/4" poker chip round decals on my graphtec fc8000. I only do batches of 300 at a time so about 2-3 ft of material. I am using a matt lam. I finally have got it to detect the marks but it is pretty hit and miss and now that it's pretty consistant it's cut is off the intended contour SOME of the time in certain parts. Somtimes off toward different marks. Is this normal with such an expesive and advanced cutter? Why is the sensor so unpredictable and inconsistant. I see people posting messages of turning off the lights and scuffing the marks but this is rediculous! Graphtec has pushed me off on the distributer and the distributor seems to be holding out until my warrantee is up. Should I be using a Roland cutter along with my versacamm? I paid 3500 for this machine to avoid this issue!Any thoughts or ideas??? Thanks!

What software are you cutting with?
I use Cutting Master directly out of Illustrator and it's so accurate it will literally split a 2pt printed stroke. I print thousands of small decals set up in sheets like you describe and can usually run 5 consecutive 32" sheets unattended.
I have never had an issue with the "glossiness" of the stock, even cutting gloss laminated reflective.

Loading your material square to the plotter is essential, but that should show up right away when you get a registration error.

I'm not sure what to tell you to get things on track if you are cutting with your RIP's software, but I can attest to the accuracy of the 7000 series, at least using Cutting Master to plot and set the registration marks.
