Hi all,
This is my first post here at Signs101. This is year 31 in the trade for me. We just updated our vinyl cutting software. Same program, just newer. I know the old program had some defaults. Mainly, if you set the plotter drum width to, say, 40”….the next time you use the plotter, the size is still kept at 40”.
I haven’t found that with the new Graphtec Studio 2. I’ll adjust the drum width to say, 40” and, after cutting, I open a new job file to cut and, it defaults back to 54”.
It is not just drum width though…I am trying to “optimize cutting order” because it was cutting, say, the center portion of a letter ‘A’ and then travels 5’ up the roll to cut the center of another letter. Then, it travels to another random place to cut another portion etc. this excess travelling not only increases the time to plot but, it is making the file off track with all the back and forth. Anyway, I found “optimize cutting order” and see a command “restrict media movement” which sounds like it could be the remedy however, when I open the next file to cut, it hasn’t saved that command anymore. No commands! So I am having to adjust every command every time I cut. The old one didn’t do that and no machines I have worked with in 30 years has done that. What am I missing???
