I have messed with it for a while, when I go to retrieve the vinyl size and connect with the machine it just says its not responding. I have illustrator installed and roland cut but even from the printers and devices I click properties and it still doesn't work. I downloaded the latest driver form the Roland site, I'm using Win 7 pro

I did all instructions as indicated and doesn't connect

The USB does make a difference. Try plugging it into all of your different USB slots.

I have a mac book pro and its critical which slot I plug it into...

Thanks for the replies, just got off the phone with Roland and they stepped me through the issue, not sure exactly what the problem was, I did a ton of unplugging, installing new drivers, plugging back in...ect.

My only problem now is the cutter isnt telling the vinyl size, I allowed it in my firewall settings, not sure what else it would be

This is my first post but I had the same issue with a Roland GX-24 not reporting back the media size. My issue was it was a brand new laptop and all the ports where USB 3.0 after some research I ended up updating my bios on the laptop so I could down grade all the ports to USB 2.0 with the bios. After that everything worked the way it should.
