Hand made calligraphy is alive and well, but should cities pay for it?

The story is a little old but it is still going on. You have to go half way into the story to read about the calligraphy part. I did like the part about not being able to hire another billboard inspector but they can spend the money on the certificates.

It's just another example of politicians spending money because it has no cost to them. It didn't cost anyone on that city council a dime to blow that million bucks.

150 years ago they'd have been lynched, today they just get re-elected.
