Hard Coat for Inusaltion Board

I have a customer who wants a couple "dog bone" post for her sign.
The budget won't allow a real 3d sculpted post so I thought I'd cut two
faces from dibond or signply and mount to two sides of 4x6 posts. Then fill in the open sides with insulation board, apply a hard coat then paint. In researching a hard coat I found this
http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/-025Bulk-Foam-Coat-25lbs.html
Anyone ever use this stuff? Or have an alternate suggestion?
I haven't tried this before (insulation with hard coat)but I know I've read of people using it for letters & 3D pieces.
Thanks for any assistance.

OK, just when I was going to send Gino's suggestion this comes in.
She wants the dog bone to be barber pole (it's a dog salon , get it?)
I don't like, but it will attract attention.

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
My eye keeps getting caught on the "suggestive" lower portion of the "bones"....but it is what it is...just sayin'.

Bill, you can do the open edges with layered PVC or if you want hardcoated material you can use Magic Sculpt or Magic Smooth. There is another product, Styrospray, which I was just about to try for hard coating but it's getting mixed reviews. Let me know if I help.
