Greetings all,

Signs101 came up on nearly every Google search I did regarding wide format printing and I usually found very good information here so I joined this forum today.

I have many years of experience managing prepress departments for offset, flexo and digital printing. I've spent the last year learning wide format, an education that has been largely trial by fire with live jobs so it's been super fun, super frustrating and ultimately I learned a ton.

Currently I'm looking to set up some decent forms for accepting vehicle wraps and proofing them out and I'm hoping to get some help with that so I'm not reinventing a wheel that someone else has already done better. We've wrapped our own vehicles (a compact pickup truck and a Hino cabover) along with several large trailers so I understand some basics and feel relatively comfortable getting the design right after inspecting the vehicle, doing the measurements myself and talking to my installers and output folks before beginning. (Having the production people on board is of primary importance, I'm sure you all understand the consequences of not including them.)

I'm now creating templates for my designers to use in Illustrator and this seems to work very well. The missing piece is getting the right information up front from sales and so far I've revisited every client to get specs I didn't get in the first place. I envision a form that walks a sales/customer service person through the basics including photos and notations on potential obstacles such as paint, damage, rivets, etc. Again, I know there are good forms out there that would give me a big head start and I'm really hoping someone can point me in that direction.

Looking forward to learning more and sharing information with others.

Thanks, Neal
