Arial Sucks.
They're very similar at first glance. One advantage of Poppl Laudatio, it has a companion serif family, Poppl Pontifex. But both are dated typefaces in terms of features. The newest version of Optima (Optima Nova) has a broader character set, including true small capitals. But, wow, the type family costs $1422. I think the only way I'm going to be using that any time soon is if Adobe pays Monotype to add it to their Adobe Fonts service.

Johnny Best If you have Flexi. They have a new Find My Font aplication for free if you are a subscriber. I have found great success with it, especially matching fonts from images where you have no idea what fonts were used. Hope this helps and what you are asking.
