My sales manager came and asked me to look up an email address, I asked her why. Well she said she had a lady call and ask what this charge was on her cc.
Apparently James Hardwood from 323 E Market st Urbana Ohio 43078 ordered from us 2000 plain t-shirts to be shipped to guam and used many different cc to pay for order and that was one of them. At first he wanted us to use his frieght company to ship and she said we could not so he gave her his UPS # that is valid with the name and address he provided us as being him. We have not shipped the shirts to Guam yet. I told her she was scammed...Am I correct???

Thanks,
Terry

yes. 100 percent correct. Unfortunately you have been scammed not her. They'll take back her charge on the CC and you're the one in the loss. Never Never Never to the " Let me use my own shipping company" thing...

She actually fell for it....??? I know a lot of shops that would fire her on the spot. These days, you have to ASSUME you are being ripped off as soon as you get a phone call or e-mail. There are a lot of no-nos there...one of them being using a bunch of credit card numbers, other being....come on, ordering blank t-shirts from a sign shop???

I would contact the authorities, give them what info you have and hope for the best.

She would be fired for that one, especially if you had told her that anything fishy she needs to ask you first.

Get this. Now she asked me if I could train all the reps on what to look for. I said just use common sense. Why in the world would someone in Ohio need to order plain shirts from a print company and have them shipped to Guam??? I had told before when anybody places an overseas order and wanting to use their freight company, It is a scam. I see it on these boards all the time. Well I dont want to be in her shoes when she tells the owner what happened.. :banghead:

From experience I can tell you the police will do absolutely nothing, you're wasting your time. I've caught several people red handed including standing in front of a guys car who was having an alarm system put in 3 days after he had a system put in all on my credit card. After finally convincing the pigs to tow the car guess what happened. Zilch.

The multiple credit cards in different names should have been her first clue. Even aside from shipping outside the US, ANYBODY that handles accounts like this should know that multiple cards are more than likely a huge red flag.

I feel bad for her - everyone screws up and this may just be her big one. But damn... I almost feel like just plain common sense should have kicked in for her.

and be glad they are blank shirts and not printed... at least you may be able to sell them printed elsewhere...

I'm curious how no one in your company noticed such a large order? And that it was obviously a scam? Even you asked in your first post if we thought it was, like you weren't sure. Seems to me like you might've known about the order from the beginning. Not just your store manager's fault. Just speculating.

Were a pretty big company and that order would not stand out merely because of its size. He used his name on all the cards and they all went through. If it was not for the poor lady calling up about this charge on her account, they would have shipped the order.
The only thing that had me speculating was when we said we could not ship via his freight he gave a valid UPS customer # with his name. Called UPS it is valid. So I kinda wanted to get some feedback before calling the police on someone without being pretty certain.

Thanks,
Terry

:banghead: Had one this week... this guy wanted a 30'x80' double sided billboard wrap. What really gave him away (besides the horrible english), he want them "hammed" with 4 grommets. I really don't see how people fall for this crap, using multiple cards for payment should have been a really big flag.:omg:

sounds like they might have a good chance of getting this guy if something in all this was real.
