You can update the firmware with MSM (Mutoh Status Monitor). SM uses the same registration as the Mutoh Club. Go to mutoh.com>support>printer registration>(login)>application & manual OR Public FTP>MSM. You still need the login from Mutoh Club to install MSM. If you bought it used or whatever and need to create a registration, when the site informs you that the serial number has already been registered, just click through it.

Yes I have the MSM and I found the printer in the search of adding printer but in registration it gives "Printer Error 6" "The printer cannot be identified. Please check the followings. 1. Make sure that the activation mode is correct (PR)" and in printer the mode is board manager mode and there "waiting for command". And I have tried other modes in printer, but then it doesn't even show up in search. Is there any other mode in printer that could work or what does that "activation mode" mean.

Hello all, I wasn't sure where to post this, but at work we recently got the MUTOH XPJ-C641SR-P. It is a very temperamental machine. I I have gotten it all to update, cut, and print. However, it can't read black vinyl for some reason. I have tried to put tape on the sensor and white paper to trick the machine, but it didn't work. I was hoping someone had some ideas.
