Help with print server in Flexi

Drip Dry

I have 2 seats of Flexi and 1 graphtec plotter. I'm trying to make a print server work with both computers.
I can get them to work but I can't poll the plotter from production manager.
The little question mark is grayed out.

So, my question, is anyone doing this... and if you are:

What make and model print server are you using
How do you get it to poll.... some setting in Flexi ?

Please, somebody give me a push in the right direction

Thanks

Works for me... I'm running Flexi 8.6v2
Poll size works with my Graphtec FC8000-160 and my Roland XC-540

Do you have "Allow Remote Send Now" enabled on the "server" computer. It's listed under preferences in Production Manager.

I just realized you're using a network print server. I thought you were trying to share the plotter connected to one computer with the other computer via Production Manager.

Print servers and output applications to plotters tend to not be a good mix from what I have noticed around here so far. Generally, while in theory it should work, the reality is I have yet to hear of anyone actually getting this to work. The computer doing your plotting really needs to be directly connected to the plotter for it to communicate properly.

Really, it all comes down to a lot of factors though and it may work for you. Drivers, connection types, software, plotters, etc. there are a lot of different combinations so its hard to say definitively what to try.

OK, after I read the 2 posts, I went back to my original plan to do it through remote production manager.
The reason I was trying to the print server was because I couldn't seem to get it working.
The original main station I was using is a brand new Win 7 machine and had a hard time to actually make it communicate on the network.
Today, I tested them on 2 XP machines we have and it worked fine. I then tried a different Win 7 machine and that worked fine.
So, I'm sure my problem is something with the firewall or virus protection.

I didn't have time today, but now I know it can work

Thanks
