High impact acrylic sheet?

Please advise on the suitability of this product for a 5' x 10' double-faced pole sign about 17' feet high at the top. My concern is whether high impact acrylic will offer enough protection against winds over the years and is non-yellowing. The product I'm using is called Tuff Glass. Any experience with this product? Can you glue strips of regular acrylic onto it to make a hanger bar? Or should they be riveted like you would do for a polycarbonate sheet?

I'd use an Acrylic pan face with a hanger bar for that size cabinet. A flat sheet would be too flimsy for my taste. You can use Weld-on to attach the hanger bar.

We've been using high strength acrylic for sign faces for years without issue. Polycarbonate is nice because it's lighter weight, we just don't like the yellowing over time.

I thought pan faces were only lexan? they make acrylic pan faces?

and for a sign that high and large I would not go flat faces on this, I agree with CG

I don't know the percentages, but there are a lot of high-impact acrylic pan faces being manufactured these days. Like cg said, they don't yellow. They must be cheaper, too, because one of my suppliers makes them but not polycarb pan faces.

Can you use regular acrylic for the hanger bars for the high impact acrylic faces? Or does it need to be the same material?

lexan, no doubt. ...can be folded in half dozens of times before it will even tear.
Only thing I would trust acrylic to do, at those dimensions/conditions, is shatter.

also, yellowing is going to happen and its just the nature of the product. It still comes with UV resistant coating that will keep it bright white for years before you start to notice any discoloration.

We've been using large acrylic pan faces for 15+ years without issue. Many are larger than 5x10. If installed correctly you shouldn't have any issues with them shattering. Our signs deal with high winds and tropical storms every year and we don't have any issues.
