Lucky Sign Shop is looking for a cutting edge Graphic Designer / Production Specialist.

Our main focus is to create unique, eye catching, never just average signage. Our designers sometimes work directly with customers, so great communication skills are needed. Attention to detail is a MUST.

Job duties include , but not limited to

~ Creation of signage, vehicle wraps, logos etc.

~ Outputting of graphic files on plotters & wide format printers

~ Application & finishing of signage / vehicle lettering

~ Maintaining equipment

~ Installation of signs & graphics when needed ( construction skills a plus )

~ Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously

We are fast paced, and perfectionists, but at the same time, we are casual and like to keep things fun.

~ Must be able to stay late & work weekends if needed

~ Have a sense of urgency, as this is a dead line oriented business

~ Total team player with a "lets get it done" attitude

~ Self Motivated

~ Valid Drivers License

~ Sense of Humor

Salary or Hourly Rate is based on Experience.

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, (Flexisign a plus)

Everything sounds good except for the pay rate. That is what general production/vinyl weeders make here to start, most of them make the high end of those numbers. Designers, quite a lot more.

As others have stated you want everything and the kitchen sink. You also state to work late and weekends if needed, this mostly means working late is common as well as a 50/50 shot you are working every weekend. Fast pace environment mixed with urgent deadlines, means anyone who knows what that means will want higher pay for their job.

Median household income for West Chester PA is $62,000, and I can go on to indeed right now and find Graphic Design positions available for $40k / year. Honestly at $12 / hr you would be lucky to find a high school student for that, much less for all that you are asking.

I would urge you to double what you are offering and if you don't be upfront about it with people before wasting your time and theirs. If you are upfront about pay I doubt you will get many takers, and if you hold off that discussion until the end I wouldn't be surprised if people just got up and left after that slap in the face.

Just an outsiders opinion, take it as you will, and good luck finding the right fit for your business.

Lucky Sign Shop is looking for a cutting edge Graphic Designer / Production Specialist. <-- THAT is not asking for a high school student, that is asking for someone with experience and / or a college graduate. You are asking for someone that is a graphic designer and / or a specialist, not a vinyl weeder or shop help.

If you are able to pull in anyone that is a "Graphic Designer / Production Specialist" willing to work $12 / hr, they are either leaving a very poor working environment and want to gtfo and find a place to hold them over for a few months, they are extremely stupid and don't know their worth, or they are completely over selling themselves.

If you must know I had 3 jobs in high school and in summers I worked 5 am - 9pm for 6 days a week. Every single one of those jobs paid me more than you are willing to shell out for a "Specialist", and that was back in 2008. In 2012, after college I got into this industry as a graphic designer, and well you may have guessed it, but that job also paid more, plus benefits.

What no one is saying is, if you get any takers from $12 up to $18 or so..... as soon as they see something better, they'll be gone in a heartbeat. Anyone able to so what you want is most likely already hired somewhere and won't be leaving for anything better, unless they're working at your shop. There's something to be said for work ethics, but this is almost slave labor. You don't need 3 different threads. It's all already here.

What it looks like to me is you made a post about hiring a graphic designer at $12 / hr then edited the post to delete the pay. If that is taken out of context then I’m sorry. If not, then I stand by what I said. But $12/hr is more like $25k.

Our sign designers average $16 to $26 per hour plus benefits

Our after school high school ( internships which don’t even require pay ) average $12-$14 per hour

Our installers $15-$26 also plus benefits

Now let’s get our calculators out and do the math …
