How do you clean the encoder strip

Can anyone please let me know how to clean the encoder strip. The printer stops printing half way and was checking the encoder strip and noticed that some ink has spilled on it. I want to clean it but dont know what solution to use. Can anyone please help. And also what is the best solution to solve ink starvation issues. Thanks

isopropyl alcohol cut with water (60-80%iso, can find it at walgreens) and a lotta gentle scrubbing.

anything more abrasive than that, will more than likely burn your strip.

Thanks Mikepro. I have done that and the printer is back online and printing fine. But my encoder strip looks really bad and i need to change it.

if it prints fine, and doesn't error, there's no reason to replace it.
