How do you guys deal with these black rubber lines on vehicles

Just about every truck we were on now have on one side the black rubber line between panels..They are about 3/16 thick and are depressed in a bit. I am never sure if I should just leave the vinyl going over them or do I cut them. I can't see the vinyl really sticking properly so cutting them seems to give way to possible failure. How do you guys approach these?

I just try to avoid if design allows it. If not i i usually remove the part. But I've seen many other installers leave them on and its staying there for long time.

Cut the vinyl so that no vinyl is on the rubber. If the vinyl terminates on the painted metal surface it will not fail prematurely. If it bridges the rubber or if you just cut it once ver the rubber, it will fail.

No vinyl on the rubber.

I'll tuck the vinyl under if i can, otherwise carefully trim it back to the paint.
