Another method is: Duplicate your text, convert to bitmap with transparent background, edit bitmap, (photopaint) enlarge paper size to make room for the spread, gaussian blur, I start with 5 pixel blur and if I need more I mask object, repaint with brush and blur again, I also set the transparency to 50 - 80%, then save. At 50% once back in Draw your can duplicate it to increase density or moove one to make for a different shadow effect. Alien Skin works but the method above gives you more control.
