How many of you use a generic encoder strip instead of a Roland product?

Just wondering because I have now used both and they both seem to work fine with no problems.

The difference in cost is really crazy and I am not sure if there really is a difference or if Roland just charges a small fortune for their product.

We use them in our rebuilds and sell them on our site with no know problems.
