Same here but I believe it was a manufacturer price increase.

Grimco has a 3rd party inkset that I hear works good in the HP9000s

HP 9000 Ink

I have excellent source for HP inks that has been working for the last 3 years. I had even modified the printer so that it draws the ink directly from the bottle rather than use cartridges (saves more bucks). Ink is originally from Japan, bottled in Taiwan and ready to ship any where in the world.
