HP 9000S/ Seiko Color 64S - A Few Questions

I have a few questions about transport of an HP DesignJet 9000s printer. If everything goes as planned, we will be leaving to move it very shortly.

First, it has to be dismantled in such a way as to fit in an SUV (Suburban). It would fit lengthwise, but it is too tall to fit. Is it possible to remove some of the bulkier items so it will fit?

Second, at 593 lbs it is rather heavy and difficult to lift. Are there any assemblies that will reduce the weight by a suitable margin? No one item will lighten it by much, but are there any which will make it more manageable to lift into the truck?

Third, are there any implications about resting it on its side for transport?

Fourth, if it has to be fully dismantled, is there anything to do so the ink doesn't make an enormous mess?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Get a box truck or a trailer and some ratchet straps.

Unless you are experienced in dismantling printers
Why mess around?

To Z Signs - re: moving printer

Z Signs,
Thanks. We were going to go that route, but ran in to some roadblocks and couldn't remove them within the timeframes. We will have to fit it into the SUV (with rear seat out and the printer can hang out the rear, if need be).
Appreciate the quick reply.

I hope you will post picks if you move your 9000 in the SUV, sounds like a horrible idea.

Thanks!!!

Wow,
I appreciate everyone's inputs, and thankfully, it looks like we will able to get the trailer after all. I enjoyed the humor in some of the posts - especially the request for pictures...:Big Laugh (I have fit quite a bit in the Suburban, BTW, and was able to fit all the previous printer, which we had to disassemble - but we're trying to keep this one intact.)
Am off to look for a ball hitch for the trailer.
I'll be back, as Arnie said.

Good luck! I am moving our Seiko in May but hoping we can sell it first. I'm waiting to get enough space for its foot print before I explain the cost of keeping it vs. how much we use it! :Big Laugh

Done! Phase 1 completed

We did it! Printer safely tucked away. Now the "project" begins. Thank you to all who stopped and commented. The input was appreciated. Used a Uhaul 5 by 9 trailer with ramp. With two strong boys we pushed and pulled it onto the bed and secured it with 2 come alongs. It held beautifully. U-haul very reasonable (about $25 plus taxes etc.) and very good service; wish we'd done that and moved both in the first place, rather than dismantling the first one. I have to thank my eldest for pushing the U-haul route and not giving up.
Efforts to load photos, however, for y'all failed - sorry.
Cheers
