Question HP Designjet 10000s strange printing issue - Has anyone seen this?

Hello everyone,

i recently got a HP Designjet 10000s. It has a strange printing issue. This issue occurs when trying to print a
testpattern (CMYKLcLm) out of the printermenu (IQ Testprint) and also when i send a printjob from my RIP Software (Ergosoft Posterpring 14).

The first 2-3 passes it seems to work as it should, but then the printheads do not fire, or they fire randomly strange patterns. The printheads even print over the recognised mediumwidth.

No air in the system, ink flows, pumps are working either. Checked printhead voltage. Also no errors from the
menu-panel.

Could this be a trailing cable issue?

Thanks for your help.

I can’t remember what type of encoder is on the 10000 but it sounds like it needs to be cleaned. If it is a metal strip across the width of the platen, carefully cleaning it with a lint free poly wipe with alcohol would do the trick.

Thank you,
i cleaned the encoder strip and tested again. It always starts the testpattern but randomly after 1-3 passes the printheads stop fireing.
Another picture of the recent approach.
It seems that it wants to start as desigend, but then looses connection. One can see that all printheads are there and ready but no correct information is recieved.

I took out the encoder sensor and carefully cleaned the lens inside. A bit tricky, but that seemed to be it! Good advice with the encoder! Cheers to you!
From time to time the panel shiws a notification: Service needed, call Service. I will service it because there is no Support anymore, anyone an idea how to reset this message? Or just ignore it. Best regards
