New smaller sized hybrid based on the small latex frame but with a belt and tables etc. Not so industrial as the R1000/2000.
I think someone might call it replacement of the FB500/700 but now latex.

HP / Grimco is doing some webcast today where it's being shown off at 1PM CST.

I guess time will tell how it's going to work out. I can already see online some generic vendors lists it with price around $90,000

I guess they realized not everyone is willing to dish out the amount of monies required to get into the R1000/2000 price point.

Personally I always thought they (R1000/2000) were way overpriced but then again I'm not HP fanboy to begin with.

Maybe it haven't been the cheapest option but I'd say most of the "big" hybrids cost around the same ballpark and up.
Anyway it's been out 7 years now, some cheaper options and chinese platforms have come out. Still it's big, heavy, made of aluminum and steel unlike these small units. And it's been a good platform, very reliable.

I'm sure this new one won't be the cheapest option either but I it might be nice option for those who still liked their FB500.

Well there you go. Seems like it has the IPS software like big machines. That's really nice to use.

It's $70K without tables. Add $22K with the tables.

I don't know if you are joking or not but I imagine you can't even get it without the tables. HP tends to include one set, it's a hybrid after all.
What you end up paying is probably closer to 80k anyway and then add on your extra tables and a RIP... 90k

Anyway something else I noticed in one promo video that must have slipped in... Latex 830... That 700/800 facelift must be coming pretty soon so keep that in mind...
Soon it will be 530, 630, 730, 830.

I’m biased because I hate HP and their business model. Would recommend buying a small true flat bed and roll to roll from another company that cares about their customers. Would not cost much more and you won’t be feeding the beast.

100% agree. Never been a fan. Evaluated the FB500 10 years ago when getting into our first flatbed, opted to go with Canon/Oce instead and never looked back. Didn't get the RMO but if we wanted a "hybrid", I'd rather a true flatbed with Roll option rather than a belt-fed unit.

I think some of you guys are being a little too harsh. I know it's not the fit for you but there's still plenty of shops out there who don't need the capacity, would like just one machine and keep it simple. Maintenance is also almost non-existent compared to two separate UV/solvents.
But it's fine, it's not for everyone.

That's the additional tables. So far HP has been selling em for $5k and I bet it will be close to that from now as well. That $22k must be a mistake.

That's fair. Sorry, I didn't mean to hi-jack your thread. I'm still not a fan of HP but I can see the appeal for some shops, especially if they've been on the HP bandwagon for a while.

Seems like a roll2roll printer + an application table would be a better and much cheaper way for doing rigid in low volume without any sacrifices on roll printing

Printing to roll media and mounting to a board is how most shops get their start with rigid, but that process is far more more expensive and error-prone (requires the board + film) plus more labor cost in mounting compared to printing direct to boards. The R530 is not a speed demon by any stretch, but it is comparable in speed with many other rigid printers in the sub-100k space, with the added benefit of being a fully functional roll printer. For shops that deliver campaigns that encompass both rigid and roll medias, or are space constrained, this printer brings a rather unique set of capabilities to the entry rigid market.

So let's say you save 15 cents/sq ft on vinyl printing direct and a few dollars in mounting labor per 4x8 ft board .

This hp printer is 90k, so you'll have to print a couple hundred thousand square feet of rigid before you come out ahead vs doing on roll2roll.

Again this is keeping in mind that this printer is for " low volume" rigid.

High volume I 100% agree need a true flatbed or good hybrid but for low volume this doesn't make much sense
