Yesterday I was printing color swatches for a particular color match for a customer. It's gray but more toward the green side of gray. I had several color swatches. They started out printing the correct colors and then did an ombre and printed straight blue.
I replaced the printheads back in july or august so they are all still under warranty. I'm thinking that the yellow printheads are bad.
I did a printhead cleaning and then a color calibration. The calibration always stops with a 79:04 code. I think I need a new hard drive. So, my question is. Should I change out the printheads and see if that fixes it, OR get a new hard drive OR get a new printer.

anybody have any ideas? ive got a call in to gsg tech support but i figured I'd throw this out here and see what people say?

I would try printheads first. What is the 79:04 code?
firmware update. It's usually related to the hard drive. I updated the firmware through the rip station. They recommendation is to update the firmware through a usb on the back of the printer. I did that last night. But it doesn't let me do a complete color calibration. The code has been coming up for a while now and all the techs at gsg seem to think they hard drive needs to be replaced. So, that's whats about to happen. They will do a hard drive recovery and if that doesn't work, they will replace the hard drive. The hard drive is $178..so that' won't break the bank. but the installation and trip charge might. LOL.

OK, I was thinking the hard drive was a lot more!

me too. I'm hoping I get the right thing. They have ordered the hard drive before and it was $1000. But this time, he said it was $178 (somewhere around there). but by the time they are doing swapping it out, it's a $500 ticket
