I can't get my GX-24 to work on Flexi-Sign 8.1

Actually I had it working on a computer running XP, but now I upgraded to Windows 7 Home. I downloaded the correct driver for the 64 bit system, it shows it in the printers, I can even poll size through the properties, but my production manager says it can't open port. I know it's set to the right port because there is only one USB showing. I've tried rebooting and I don't have a serial port on the new computer and if I can help it I would like to keep it that way.
