I know it's gotta be faked, but it's still pretty cool!

OMG!!!! there's something so amazingly exciting about that!
maybe that he wasn't dropped, didn't jump out of or get shot up from anything... and the fact that he had to physically use his arms to flap the wings.... just WOW! :chills:

and whatever it was he said afterwards, so breathlessly.... i LOVED THAT TOO! :mmm more chills:

enjoyed that so much, didn't want to watch the others...
don't want to find out if it's real and don't want to know what he said.

Interesting that while the wings are flapping they aren't showing any load on them.....the fabric is just as loose while "flying" as it is on when he's on the ground.

If it did work he'd win the Flugtag with ease.

Bull feathers....his uses wires connected to a crane.

I guess that does count as motored, though.

How's your flugtag project coming?

The f@&$;:s wouldn't let us enter last year claiming we had an unfair advantage. We could have been contenders! I was born to soar.

I call bullfunky on this as well. I know the Turnigy line of motors in passing; one (or more) that would have the torque to flap those wings are 48v and weigh in at 3.46 pounds each. Even with LiPO batteries, it'll require quiet a few to get the motors running at their torque range. Where's his battery pack?

Yep, right on 1000%, NO WAY there is enough power on his backpack to power such a large wing span...

However, a good job at fake-a-ry! :thumb:

That is a way cool video. Would love to own a pair myself if it is real.

Not sure what your link is showing. two experts quoted one saying absolutly not and the other saying quite possible with no sign of trickory. I would trust Jamie Hyneman more than the other guy anyday.

Since Huffington couldn't even spell Hyneman's name correctly I'm suspicious of their experts anyway :). But simply look at the wing loading - like Pat said, there is no sign of any stress on them at all. Even some hang gliders look limp before they hit the air - then the fabric fills out.
