I think I may move back to Texas .
Black Friday got off to a rowdy start at a San Antonio mall where police say one shopper pulled a gun on another who punched him in the face while they were waiting in line at a Sears store.

Police Sgt. Rob Carey tells the San Antonio Express-News a man rushed into the store when it opened Thursday night to get to the front of a line, started arguing with people and tried cutting in front of them.

One man who got punched pulled a gun and that scattered shoppers, including the impatient line-cutter who took cover behind a refrigerator. Then he fled.

Carey says the man with the gun had a permit to carry the weapon and isn't being charged with a crime.

i never go shopping on black friday.... but without realizing what day it was... ended up at a Walmart at 11pm last night (hubby wanted snacks after leaving EPCOT. at first i just though, wow these Florida folks are nutty for Walmart.

guess i was a little to tired and hungry to realize, cuz i'd opened my little thing of cheese and was standing there with cheese hanging out of my mouth when i realized..... "oh CRAP... it's BLACK FRIDAY.... i'm flipp'n Black Friday shopping!!!
and all i have is CHEESE... aaaaaaand it wasn't even on sale!!!!!!!

coulda just left the store if i hadn't opening the damn cheese!

I'm sure there is a perception out there of us Texans still considering ourselves to be wild west cowboys. I can't tell you, however, how many news stories I've seen about someone with a conceal carry permit thwarting a crime. Most recently, an airline flight attendant stopped a guy she saw fleeing from a house and held him at gunpoint until police came. He had raped a woman inside the house. Another I recall is a couple of stereotypical hooded sweatshirt wearing thugs came into a convenience store and held it up with a knife to clerk's throat. An old man in the store pulled out his gun and shot the one holding the knife in the leg and clipped the other in the leg as he ran from the store. My daughter recently got married and moved to an apartment complex across the highway from the university she attends. There is a lot of drug dealing that goes on there. I have her husband convinced to get her a handgun since a former boyfriend used to take her to a shooting range and she became proficient with shooting. She is alone in the apartment quite often and I don't like that since she is noticed by men everywhere she goes. My oldest son has a Glock 40 cal and 12 gauge and taught his beautiful fiance to shoot. For anyone who is interested, you can do an online CC permit class in less than an hour from the state of Virginia for $29.00 to get a non resident permit that is recognized in all but a handful of other states. I'm doing it after the first of the year. It's like G. Gordon Liddy says, there should only be one side of the story to tell in a life threatening situation. I want it to be mine and my families.
