I am not sure I fully understand what you are questioning.
But if you have created a 'blur" effect such as a drop shadow, there is a LOT of information contained in the file to create the blur so you don't see all the gradations when printing. Therefore, the file is usually very large, and if you don't have a very fast {newer} computer it can take a little bit extra time. I know "bluring" slows my computer down a great deal. Especially when you change something, then want to preview the change.
