illustrator color

Hi All
how come sometimes I cant change the color of the art work. It is stuck in the grayscale even if i select a red or green it will be gray???

Go to the little blue options button on the upper right side of the color pallate box and there you can change from grayscale to CMYK or RGB, etc.

Thank you...I had that problem a couple of weeks ago and didn't know how to fix it. This place is great!
