Illustrator Cutline Issues

With the little bit of information you provided, MY solution would be to create an exact duplicate of the original artwork, convert it into one continuous piece of artwork via "weld" command, then assign that artwork a custom color to be the outline [or cut line] you need and save it on a second layer.

As mentioned you have not really provided enough details (image) so we are not sure what you know or don't know?

Make a circle with no stroke. Color it.
Make a concentric circle to get what ever finished ring width you want and make it a different color.
Use the alignment tools to make sure they're aligned perfectly, one of top of the other.
Use the Minus Front command to "cut" the center circle out.
Now you can join as many of these rings as you want in the desired shape and use the Unite command in Pathfinder.
All that's left is changing the stroke to whatever color your CutContour is supposed to be.
Class Dismissed.
