Illustrator//PS to ONYX RIP - SPOT WHITE

I have one more thing to address... So looking at the gradient on this, it appears that the R2000 inside its app to print sees some sort of black underneath the gradient (there isnt any in the file) and dropped it onto the paper... Now I suspect this is just overcoat or optimizer thats on the paper creating a sort of gloss/darkened layer. Any idea on what is causing this?
Ideally I want just the white to drop and nothing else, like a screen print. So far the printer is doing pretty much what I want it to do, but I'm wondering if I can avoid this.

You may have to set ALL artwork (both layers) as Overprints; not just the white layer, we had to do that when printing spot white ink with our old Epson through Onyx.
